Box
How Box Works
Box Business and Box Enterprise let you connect with your content when you're on the go. You can view content on any device, send files or folders with a simple email link, or upload content and invite others to access it. And because Box has robust permissions and tracking and reporting capabilities, you have total control over your content.
Here's what you can do with Box:
- Turn folders into shared workspaces.
- Invite the team to view, edit and much more.
- Easily manage multiple file iterations. Stay current and refer to prior versions.
- Set tasks to approve, review or update files. Create custom tasks with personalized instructions.
- Track updates to shared files: file views, uploads, comments and more.
- Combine Box's content management and administrative capabilities with Google Docs' real-time collaboration tools.
Send Files...Fast.
Teamwork isn't work with Box. Turn any folder into an online workspace, and then share with colleagues or clients. You can send everything from simple Word docs to large media files without having to deal with clunky email attachments that slow down your day. Here's how easy Box is:
Send a link
- Just upload a file, copy and paste a link into the body of an email or instant message or send directly from Box.
- Once you share a link, you can upload new versions quickly without having to send another link.
- Files can be viewed right in a web browser. That means no time-consuming downloads or special software.
Sharing Folders
Creating a folder takes just a few clicks and Box lets you create and send as many folders as you need. Just upload your files and invite others to link in. Shared folders will immediately be accessible and others can upload their own files, edit files or add comments. Plus, folders can be viewed on any device.
Access Permissions
Invite others as editors or give them view-only access to files. You get to decide who can edit, print, share or download files. The control is your hands. Access permissions are one of the many benefits you have with Box Business.
Email notifications
Everyone can stay on the same page when a team member comments on an important document or uploads/downloads files.
Embed a file on your website
When you want to make a file available to a larger audience, Box allows you to embed a file directly into your website.
It's easy to embed almost any kind of file (PDF, PowerPoint, Word, JPEG, MP3 and more) on websites, blogs, intranets, wikis, you name it. Site visitors will be able to instantly view the file or folder you've shared!
Box makes accessing, sharing and uploading content easy and convenient.
Box Syncing FAQs
How does Sync manage conflicts?
If two users edit a file, the first save will get uploaded, and the second file will be uploaded as a "-copy of". If one user edits the file and another user simply renames it, both edits will be merged.
What happens to my files if the admin deletes me from the enterprise or I downgrade to a personal account?
In both instances, your files will remain on your desktop, but you will not be able to login to Sync.
What goes into the Sync Recycle Bin?
If files are deleted by Sync, they are placed in the Sync Recycle Bin (Windows users) or in Trash (Mac users)
Are there differences between Mac and Windows Sync?
The only difference is that Mac Sync does not offer lock/unlock or shared link context menu options.
What happens when you delete a folder in "My Box Files"?
Folders deleted directly in "My Box Files" will be unsynced, deleted locally, but not deleted on Box. Subfolders that are deleted will be deleted locally and from Box.
My files were moved to the "Box Sync Issues" folder on the Desktop. Why?
This can happen when you install the latest version of Box Sync and there was a problem with the older version successfully finishing a sync cycle. Sync automatically replicates the web folder structure on your local drive and moves all the files/folders that are not on the cloud to your desktop inside the "Box Sync Issues" folder. When you want to upload them to the Box cloud, simply drag and drop these files back to Box documents.
Why were files I added to "Box Documents" moved to the "Default Sync Folder"?
Whenever you add individual files to the "Box Documents" Folder, they are automatically migrated to a "Default Sync Folder". You can easily move these files to another folder, or to sync a new file into a specific folder, just place it in the designated folder.
Is there a difference between blue and orange Sync icons?
A blue, check-marked icon means a file or folder has been successfully synced. An orange icon indicates that the file is in the process of being synced.
