Tip: Resizing and Removing Windows 8 App Tiles

Need to resize or remove an app from the Windows 8 Start screen? Here's how to do it.

You’re unlikely to use every app that comes preinstalled with Windows 8.  Some app tiles are twice as large as others, which is great if it’s an app you use all the time, but large app tiles also eat up space on the screen.

If you want to shrink a large app tile down to size, right-click the tile and select “Small” from the option list. This cuts the tile down to normal size. On the other hand, if you don't want to see the app on the Start screen at all, select “Unpin from Start.” The app is still available if you need it, but no longer displayed on the Start screen.

Or, if you just want to get rid of an app, right-click its tile and select “Uninstall.”
