Standard inch tape measures have a blade that is numbered at each inch increment and marked with plain lines for graduations in between to measure in feet, inches, and fractions of an inch.

- Steel blade is wear-resistant for heavy-duty use in dry environments. It won't stretch like fiberglass but it will retain heat and expand in high-temperature conditions.

- Plastic case with rubberized grip is lighter than metal and has a molded rubber grip that resists impacts and improves hold when hands are wet or oily.
