Professionally track any sale or transaction with high-quality invoice paper to stay organized and maintain reliable records. Whereas receipts only provide a record of the transaction to the buyer, invoice paper allows for documentation of the sale details to all parties. See below for the different options available when purchasing invoice paper.
What Is Invoice Paper?
Invoice paper is a type of paper form that is used to keep track of work and request payments from other parties. Invoice paper is often used instead of electronic invoices by people who like to keep a hard copy for their records or who need to write invoices on the spot for the person they are requesting money from. Invoice paper is unique, because it normally contains an original copy that lays on top of a receipt copy. When the original copy is written on, the same writing is transferred to the receipt so that both parties can have the same document for their records.
What Different Types of Invoice Paper Are Available?
The most popular type of invoice paper is made out of carbonless paper. Carbonless paper has a special coating on it that transfers writing to the receipt papers below it when pressure from any pen or pencil is applied. Almost all invoice paper on the market now is carbonless.
Invoice paper comes in many sizes. Smaller 5.4” x 8.5” pads are available for lighter jobs and easy storage in places like padfolios for document protection, and larger 8.5” x 11” pads are available for recording multiple jobs or keeping a longer list of items that need to be paid for.
In addition to the size of the invoice paper, the number of copies the paper will make is also an important factor to consider. Many invoice paper pads will either come with two parts or three parts, meaning that they either have the original and one copy of a receipt, or an original and two copies of the receipt. The primary top layer of paper that is written on is often a white piece of paper, and the second layer of receipt paper is often a light yellow color. If a third layer of paper is included, it is normally a light pink color. Deciding if a two-part or three-part invoice paper book is needed will depend on how many copies will need to be distributed and how you plan on using the paper.
How Can Invoice Paper Be Used?
Invoice paper can be used for many purposes. It’s helpful in recording business transactions made with clients so that timely payment requests can be made. Contractors and freelancers often use invoice paper to show their clients how much work was completed, when the work was completed, and how much money is due.
Invoice paper is also frequently used by small business owners to track shipments and orders that are sent out. Many invoice paper forms have designated areas to write the order number, list out all of the products that were shipped, their product description, and how much each item cost.
