Transcend External DVD Writers Come With Multi-Media Software
Transcend optical drives are packaged with CyberLink® Media Suite 10 software, consisting of video, photo, and music editing tools, menu customization, and other applications for enhancing the use of CDs and DVDs and syncing them with laptop functions. The media suite includes MediaShow software that lets you organize and share photos on social media. Transcend USB DVD writers also sync with the suite’s Power2Go® burning, backup, and conversion software to enhance the quality of video and audio files as they are transferred onto disk, and to expand the compatibility of the writers with an entire range of CD and DVD disk formats.

What Read and Write Speeds Do Transcend External DVD Writers Provide?
Transcend external writers are tray-loading devices with push-button ejection. The portable DVD writers are compatible with CD-R/RW, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, M-DISC™, and DVD-RAM formats, including dual-layer disks. They have read speeds of 8x for most of the DVD formats and for the M-DISC, and 6x for CD-ROM/R/RW formats. They have 24x write speed with CD-R and RW formats, 8x with DVD+/-R and +RW formats, 6x with DVD-RW and DVD+/-R DL disks, 5x for DVD-RAM disks, and 4x for M-DISKs.

What Operating Systems Work With Transcend External DVD Writers?
The portable optical drives are compatible with both desktop and laptop Mac® and Windows® operating systems. They work with Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista™, and XP, and with macOS X® series versions 10.4 and later. The CyberLink Media Suite that comes with Transcend USB DVD writers works with the Windows operating systems.

What Other Features Do Transcend External DVD Writers Offer?
Optical drives from Transcend offer 0.75MB of buffer memory to store read data as the data are being transferred to disk, to ensure the write head does not omit any data during the writing process. The buffer memory keeps the write process more organized and makes the process of transferring data more efficient. Transcend USB DVD writers also have read/write heads that offer average seek times of 160 milliseconds on DVD-ROM disks and 140 milliseconds on CD-ROM disks for locating data segments on the disks.
