Remember, as a child in elementary school, the teacher would pass out wide-ruled paper for writing? It was perfect as we were learning to write — giving us room to write big and messy and make lots of mistakes.

As we got older, we were introduced to college-ruled paper, with more lines and less space. However, wide-ruled notebooks are still widely used by students in the classroom and outside it as well.

The Benefits of Wide-Ruled Composition Books
Wide-ruled composition notebooks are essential tools in developing early writing skills for a variety of reasons:

  • Develops fine motor skills. More surface area to write means extra room to practice handwriting and cursive.
  • Allows children to refine their writing structure. By trial and error in a larger writing space, the young learner will be able to fine-tune their handwriting before moving on to a smaller format.

Advantages to Handwriting
