There are several key differences between HP imaging drums and HP toner cartridges:
- HP image drums are an electrically charged cylinder located inside the printer that binds the toner powder to the printer paper to create images and text.
- HP toner cartridges simply contain the toner powder and are only compatible with LaserJet printers.
- The HP drum should be replaced after four or five toner cartridges are emptied.
How Do You Install an HP 660A Drum?
Installing an HP 660A drum is a simple and easy process that any employee can be trained on. Here is the general process, however, be sure to refer to the manual during installation.
- Lift the scanner assembly and top cover until they are both firmly secure.
- At this point, you should be able to see the imaging drum, which can be safely grabbed by the middle and lifted out of the printer.
- This will remove the imaging drum as well as the toner cartridge.
- Place the old drum and cartridge to the side and recycle them later.
- Remove the new drum from its protective cover and, holding it from the middle, align it with the tracks inside the printer.
- Push down until it firmly clicks into place and close the scanner assembly and the top cover. Your new HP 660A imaging drum is now good to go.
