- Smooth backing is recommended for placement on smooth floors, such as hardwood or tile. Cleated backing is recommended for placement on carpeted surfaces. Universal backing can be used on either smooth or carpeted surfaces.

The surface is made with solution-dyed fibers that dissipate water for quick drying and will not fade or rot. WaterHog mats are backed with durable rubber that will not crack or curl, ensuring your mat will lie flat and remain in place.
