Easy Blade Change - Now that I know how!
Haven't changed the blade since I bought the knife but then... I kept looking till I found a Ytube video on how to. Obviously, it's easy to pull the blade out simply by pushing the red button and letting the blade fall out. I was jaw-dropped when I saw the guy simply push the new blade in till it locks! THAT is how easy it is to change the blade. You do not even nee...

frustrating
Why is it that these knives will not hold the blade and keep it from slipping right out. I have bought my last one ! Do the people who design these knives not ever use them for anything more that cutting cotton balls. Iv'e had plenty of these and they all do the same thing. They allow the blade to just slide out when you put some real pressure on them like cutting...

What do I use this item for?
Like so many other people have indicated this utility knife is of little use. I can't change the blade. The blade that is in there sticks out about an 1/8 of an inch, and I can't get it to move, and can't replace. I did finally get the compartment where the blades are open after taking a knife and wrench to it. Not sure what the red button is for, because pushing it doe...

I don’t understand the bad reviews on this knife?
Yep, I love this knife! Quick change works great and there’s room for extra blades in the handle.

Great cutter
Have used this cutter for years! Never had a problem. Easy to change the blade. A monkey could do it!

Blade Stuck inside/Off track
I love my fatmax. Great knife until my guy friend broke it. The blade in stuck inside the case & I can't get it out. Pressed the red button on the end, and moved the blade forward, nothing. I think it's off track and I want to know how to get it unstuck with out opening. I don't have the right tool to open it. It take a guy to break my tool that I've had for 10yrs with ...

Complete and total garbage
Others have complained about putting new blades in. I can't even get to that point because it's impossible to get the storage compartment open where the extra blades are held. Depressing the red circular button is near impossible. Would not recommend at all.

Blade does not release with the black tab pressed
The old blade is stuck. I researched and watched YouTube videos on how to change blades. It is supposed to release with the black tab on the left near the blade pressed down, but it is completely stuck. So once the initial blade got dull, that was it. And it cannot be taken apart to see how it's supposed to work or if it can be fixed somehow.

Awful - No instructions cannot get knife in
I bought a Stanley knife because I grew up with them and their reliability. Do not buy this knife. There is no easy way of getting the bleeding. The blood gets jammed. I’ve left it in there to take it back to the store. No instructions at all. Buy the cheap alternative.

Great all round utility knife
I recently purchased this utility knife at Walmart for less than $20. It’s a great knife and holds 5 extra blades in the storage compartment. It also holds the blade very securely. Another great product

Not Recommended
The first time I used this the blade ejection assembly jammed after a day's use, so I returned it and got another one.
That one jammed because they put the stupid plastic display card inside the assembly and when I cut that off, a piece o0f the vinyl remained inside, so it was unusable. So I took it apart, but Stanley provides no info anywhere on how to reassemble it--...

Horrible
I bought 2 - Stanley 6-5/8 IN FATMAX® RETRACTABLE UTILITY KNIFES and they are junk. The blade on both come out while cutting. They will not stay in the handle. I cannot believe Stanley would put this on the market.

I like!
Nice! Easy to change the blade...you just have to wiggle it some to get it in. When the blade's in, it feels secure. Very nice that there's storage for extra blades. The slider button could be a little smoother, maybe, but it's not bad. The bright Stanley color makes it easier to keep track of.

Avoid this piece of chit
When it's brand new the blade change out is great. After using it, not exposing it to any corrosive elements, it becomes a giant piece of chit when trying to change the blade out. Don't buy this product. Avoid it.

Easy and comfortable
I've owned a couple of them for over a year and they have become my "go to" Utility Knife. Unlike many reviewers, I have *NOT* had problems with the blades sticking or not holding. Loading and unloading is easy. I find when you load a fresh blade, if you wiggle the blade back and forth it will confirm that it is properly locked in, if the catch isn't fully engaged, th...
