Frustrating.
Couldn't install according to directions. Tried 3 times. Returned DVD drive to store. Don't know if this was just a bad apple in a bunch of good ones, but it didn't work.

Haven't shopped at Staples for quite a while. So far, pleasantly surprised at the value of using points and what Staples offer. The external cd/dvd writer looked flimsy but did what it was supposed to do at an excellent price (using points).

This solved a problem
I had just purchased a new computer (last one was 5 years ago) & found out after I got home that they don't come with a CD drive any more & I was not informed of this. The price was perfect & it worked great. Very slim & lightweight. Would definitely recommend.

I Needed an External CD Drive
When I upgraded my computer last fall, it did not have an internal CD drive, so I needed to purchase one. The person at Staples knew exactly what I needed and provided it to me. It was relatively easy to set up and get running. It works !

Reading works great. NERO writing is TBD
Simple plug and play installation is working great for reading CD and DVD's. Installed the provided NERO software for writing discs, but documentation is confusing, so I haven't attempted to write as of this review.

Returned untried due to lack of information on box
This is sold as a writer and nothing on its box indicated that it could serve my purpose as a reader/player, so I returned it unopened.
I should have trusted my Staples salesperson's knowledge because I ended up buying another writer (elsewhere) whose box listed all its uses.

After going through all the steps to get it installed, I found I had to pay another $50 to get the software to actually play a DVD or CD. I know there is free software available, but I didn’t want to take a chance with a company I didn’t know.
