Great Antenna
Assembled and installed this antenna on a pushup pole. Making contacts to places i was never able to reach before. Works better than other antennas that cost 2 or 3 times more. Some reviews complained about water getting in but that will not be a problem. I taped each joint and then used liquid tape to seal it, something you should always do on a jointed antenna.

great deal on a great antenna
The Staples price was less than any other place I could find for this antenna.
It has great SWR for both 2 meter and 70 cm bands but also does respectable SWR <2 on GMRS and while not ideal it gets <3 SWR on MERS frequencies.
It makes a great all around base station antenna.

Assembly just a little tricky
Delivery and packaging were good. Never found the wrenches but everything else was there. Materials look good. It's essential to connect the internal antenna rods together using the grub screws. Problem was that these had traveled up inside the outer shells. Easy fix is to shake the shell or tap gently on the floor until the inner core slides out. Good idea to lubricat...

It does good, shipping sucks!
Antenna works, but joints are a little weak. Antenna was ssticking out of shipping box 2 feet when I got it. Very poor shipping! I sealed joints with white liquid electrical insulator. Antenna is not 17ft tall as advertised. Fiberglass housing is much longer than brass wire antenna inside.

Great value !
Great price and great db gain for this antenna. Using it for Allstar and Echolink node covering 40 miles away. Just make sure you use coax seal and electrical tape over that at the two joints and you'll be good to go for any weather.

Good for Simplex
This antenna performs good in VHF. It works UHF but the 2M band is better for simplex.
I’ve had conversations with stations 26+ miles away on simplex.
I’m happy with this purchase.
This antenna is the equivalent of the GP-9 for 72% less.
I highly recommend this antenna.

Recommended light duty omnidirectional antenna
This antenna is easy to assemble and well worth the price for a dual-band omnidirectional antenna, but do not expect it to survive extremely high winds (or lightning strikes). The antenna gain numbers are a bit exaggerated but still usable....perhaps 3dBd VHF and 5 dBd UHF? It's definitely recommended for around town use and scanners.
