Perfect for my purposes
As a self-employed writer, editor, desktop publisher, and writing teacher, I need a B&W laser printer for printing large quantities of drafts, and I hate having to add paper to the tray. Not like previous HP printers. Don't buy
Bought two model M501 to replace two other HP printers, models 4200 and 3015. These weigh half as much which tells you something. Why I wouldn't buy again is they don't print landscape. I will never buy hp printer again there printers don't last long as their supposed to and toner for this cost as much as color laser printer so I suggest different printer

Rude service at the store
Order online was easy, Delivery was on time but when I went to pick up the item and because I have never been to the store, I asked the first employee where pickup was and he asked me rudely what I had ordered and then he told me where pickup was. No signs in the store for exit and the place was heavily cluttered near the exit.

Super-fast printer!
Super-fast printing. Printing on both sides is really fast! But a bit loud when printing. Love that the paper tray holds 550 sheets so have to refill paper less frequently.

Web printing sucks, I want to return this printer
I cannot enable web services and I reached out multiple times for support to no avail. I would like to return this printer because the only reason I bought it was so I could print orders in the office from home.

HP LaserJet Pro M501dn tray 2 lift issues.
I've had this printer (M501DN) for 4-years, very light usage. Used 1st year maybe 20pages /month, then occasionally after that.
Paper tray 2 lift issues started to occur sporadically and had to use manual paper tray. This soon turned into a paper tray 2 completely unusable.
Repair tech suggested a new printer since repairs would probable cost almost as much.

Recommended
Pros: Works great. Fast. Big paper tray. Fantastic upgrade from M404. Large toner will yield 18,000 copies.
Cons: Expensive. Toner is very expensive.

Not a Wi-Fi printer. Must be hard wired
It’s a great printer but it’s not clear on the description that you can’t use it from other computers unless it’s networked. I purchased it because it had Wi-Fi and thought all the other computers could print from it
