Good Compass
What can you say - it makes a circle! But it needs a lock so the pencil doesn't walk.

Not Worth The Money
Even though this student compass was sold for an excellent price the quality is not worth buying. It wouldn’t stay in the size/position I had set. Staples was very gracious and accepted my return. Instead of a student grade compass I decided to spend a little bit more on a professional grade compass.

Made of plastic that was too flexible. It would bend while trying to draw a circle. Could not make an exact circle.

The scale calibration present on this compass is totally incorrect when we compared with a regular scale. While trying to stretch the arms, only one of them moves.

Cheap construction
Do yourself a favor and buy a metal compass. Drawing a perfect circle is impossible because the plastic construction is so poor. Another surprise was when the compass fell to the floor the steady plastic leg broke in two. I don't want to be a total downer about this product so I should add the pencil performed admirably keeping score during a round of miniature golf...

Remove from the store
If the goal is to draw circles or arcs this device will not do that. The drawing arm moves with minimal pressure creating less than circle shapes. Best case is to hold the device steady and rotate the paper.

Staedtler compass hard to use
My daughter who is 13 said this compass is very difficult to use. She has switched to a different compass that works much better for her.

Student compass poor imitation
This is a plastic model that cannot be expected to give precise marks. The top screw looks like the real thing but is solid non adjustable plastic.
