Using it as a low-tech equipment sign-out
We are caterers: we use a slot for each high-cost piece of equipment (coffee makers hand trucks extension cords - each is labelled with a number/letter). When a piece goes out on an event the party name goes in the slot. Our fancy software version was a PITA: this is pen and paper and actually gets done every time.
