Go back to the original adhesive!
I've been buying the Staples brand clear tape for years (presumably it's just 3M tape with Staples' name on it). However, they've changed the packaging and made the adhesive not stick at all. This new "magic" tape from 3M is just as bad.

Scotch Super-Hold Invisible Clear Tape
I don't know how long Scotch Invisible Tape has been around, but I've been using it since I was in grade school. I'm over 70 now. I'm perfectly happy with my Scotch Tape product.

Not just super -- it's SUPER-DUPER!
This tape simply sticks tighter than ordinary transparent tape. So it holds things together better and immobilizes things better. If sticking better is what you want from your transparent tape, this is where to get it.

This tape has a very strong adhesive and is thick enough that it does not tear easily. I wish the cutter was sharper. Some times is does not tear off the holder evenly.

This is a better tape by far
I calibrate a lot of tools and put labels I put on them that need to last a year. I started to put this over the labels stay on and last.
