They should tell you that they coat the points with something. I had to heat the point in order for the pen to write.

Good pen but some negatives
The pen is fine but even with the padded grip area it remains too thin for me to use comfortably for long periods of time The other things about this pen cancels that imperfection and I will consider buying again

Paper Mate Medium Point Pens
I like these pens because it is soft against my finger when I write. The pens are light weight and reasonably priced compared to the other pens and these are just as good.
