Don't Purchase 550 for RX Label use
This printer has great potential with the new ethernet port, however in our industry there are over 28,000 Veterinary clinics in the US. Most all of these hospitals currently have at least one Dymo 330, 400, or 450 for the printing of RX labels. These hospitals will unfortunately not be able to use this product! DYMO LABELWriter 550Desktop
I purchased 3 at once about a week ago. One is already down. I find that the roller gets the "sticky glue" from the labels stuck on it very easily and its a major pain to get it off. I plan to return at least 1 so far. Many of the others that I've purchased before this batch have had similar issues. There has to be a better way.

Easy to set up and use. Fast, good quality printing.
The Dymo 500 is very user friendly, prints quickly and clearly. I highly recommend it. Do not buy the Brother QL600 which is a large piece of junk.

Does not work with other labels.
Dymo now uses RFID chips on the rolls of labels and the machine will not print with any other brand. Dymo does not produce the label we use but we have been running a DYMO 450 Turbo for years with a problem. We are returning this LabelWriter550 and looking for something that will work with our labels.

I spent more time troubleshooting the device vs printing. adding and deleting it from my computer settings, and to redownload the software... save your money.

"This is terrible. Only the original 550 labels can be used. Other labels, even those used for the 440 model, cannot be used. Purchasing Dymo because it's cheaper could end up wasting your time and effort. Please exercise caution and be careful when making a purchase."

CONFUSING SOFTWARE
Label writer is a great little tool for address labels, label file folders etc.... The software is very confusing and took a little while to figure out. The labels are nice & clear. Not a 5 star rating because of software issue.

Worse Label Maker and Return Policy EVER!!!!
We purchased two of these label makers for our small business to replace the previous model (Dymo 450). I had no idea that the software and operation of this printer was so impossibly difficult. It does not give you the freedom to edit as you could with the previous model and literally all of our contacts saved in our address book were unreadable with the new software. ...

writer is good. Information on how to set up, move addresses from an older Dymo and then find, select and print a label are not good and very difficult to find in the instructions.

USELESS
I have been through 3 in the last year. Dymno support is no help!! after a few uses it stops recognizing their own labels. i purchase more and still does not work. they need some type of update on these products. i even purchased a different model the 3rd time and having the same issue.
