A detailed review fo the ET-8550
After getting repeated requests from Epson, I finally decided to submit a review for my ET-8550. This is my fourth Epson printer and I decided to purchase this one after my 8 year old XP-600 printer expired with a full waste ink box. I figured it wasn't worth sending back to Epson for service and it would be really nice to have a printer able to print up to 13x19.

Pizza wheels destroy what was almost amazing printer.
I love this as a basic printer... but one FATAL flaw for those hoping to use it as a photography printer (which you could be mistaken for given its calle dthe Eco Tank PHOTO printer. If you print on any sort of glossy paper (and much if not all luster) there are visible vertical "pizza wheel" marks that will show in reflections for all prints. That with the (attractivel...

Do not buy this junk save your money.
Junk I have owned 7 of these printers in the past 3 years. That alone should speak of the quality. They constantly break. They barely get 3000 prints out of a unit. Paper jams, parts falling out, firmware issues stating transportation lock is on when it’s not. The support is garbage from Epson. My last printer that was set for warranty exchange I was charged a deposit. ...

Epson ET-8550 A must buy
This device is absolutely AWESOME! I just bought it, and after owning many printers over the years, I can say the print quality and performance of this inkjet are truly astonishing.
The borderless printing results depend somewhat on the media you use, but overall the quality at this price point is outstanding. On top of that, the ink costs are very reasonable compared ...

Really large and expensive paperweight
This is my second 8550 that will not print gray. No matter how many times I clean the nozzle there is always lines missing on the gray, sometimes the other colours too. I can’t print photos with it which is the whole point, I’ve already returned one which said one of the parts was end of life - I had it for less than 24 hours! I’m so dreading calling Epson customer serv...

Fail Tray and Fail Printer
It's an expensive printer. I had this printer maintained in mint condition with lower than average use. Main tray stopped working. I could hear some mechanical noise like motor and gears working but tray did not open or retract automatically as it used to do. Contacted support via email received email asking to contact call support, which I did and issue remains un-reso...

PRINT OR GO HOME
I purchase my ET-8550 about a year ago. The problems seem to be around the paper feeding into the printer. The help file tells me to load paper in tray 2 - this printer has no trays!!! Is there a fix for this problem. I had to print a proposal today and could not do it. So I went to the library and printed it - it was not free!!! Please send me information on a fix for ...

NICE AND THE INK USE IS VERY EFFECIENT
NOT LASER QUALITY, BUT THE INK GOES A LONG WAY. THE SETTINGS AND TRAY USE TAKE SOME TIME TO FIGURE OUT.

Extremely flexible and economical, if confusing printer
I replaced a Canon Prograf 1000 with this Epson printer. The Epson can deliver high quality prints on up to 13”x19” paper, and do so MUCH more quickly than the Canon, with a lot less wasted ink. However, the techs who designed this printer packed so many features into it (including the ability to print directly on a CD), that it takes some time to learn it. I spent a go...

I LOVE THIS PRINTER
I got this for my business to print detailed medical reports. I was overwhelmed when I unboxed it and set it up (took a few hours) but once it was set up and I printed some of my report, I fell in love with it! One of my best purchases ever!! I now use it for a lot of things and my laser printer is now a distant backup that I'm using less and less.

Bad Experience
I purchased this printer about a month ago.Unfortunately the printer was not working as I couldn’t add ink.i contacted Epson tech support and explained the problem, photos and answered their questions the best I could via telephone.which of course was not a 1800 number and was an additional cost to me. I wanted the printer relplaced or repaired and an address that could...

Awesome Printer
I upgraded from my Canon ProPixma 100 and the Epson printer is way easier to work with than the Canon printer. First, it was easy to install and configure on my Mac, doesn’t take up as much space, easy to fill ink tanks, start time is less than one minute (Canon printer took almost 10 minutes to start before it would print), and most importantly the color prints are tru...

Long-term light usage reliability questionable
I bought my ET-8550 3 years ago and for most of the first two years (warranty period) was very happy with the quality of the prints, both photo quality and drafting for home landscape design. In the last few months though, the printer has been plagued with problems. First, some nozzles became clogged (only 970 pages printed, only Epson OEM ink used) and I went through m...

An absolute nightmare. Nothing works properly. It constantly says there is no paper, even when there is paper. Because its 1mm from the feeder. The paper constantly get stuck. Absolutely LOVE this printer! Took a bit to figure out some of it - like where exactly was tray 2 - but eventually figured it out. Since I print alot I really like the double sided printing as it saves on paper. It’s ot quiet but it’s not any louder than any other printer I’ve had. - I replaced my Brother laser with this one. 2 years and still happy. I had multiple printers throughout the years and this one is far the best. My last one was the ET-2850 which was decent but did not have the photo quality I was looking for but is good for the kids. This ET-8550 prints out beautiful 13" X 19" photos from my drone shots to close ups of my pets with amazing results. Exercise it regularly with nozz...

good printer, must be wired apparently
I know Epson describes this as wireless printer but that is only true about 87% of the time (Per page printed). I moved the printer where it is absurdly close my computer and it will still fail by seizing up (usually after you printed about 70% of the document). Epson's only solution, is to wire the printer, (while not admitting that their product is defective).
