A detailed review fo the ET-8550
After getting repeated requests from Epson, I finally decided to submit a review for my ET-8550. This is my fourth Epson printer and I decided to purchase this one after my 8 year old XP-600 printer expired with a full waste ink box. I figured it wasn't worth sending back to Epson for service and it would be really nice to have a printer able to print up to 13x19.

Prints streaks both horizontally and vertically. Non usable.
Awful printer. Streaks both horizontally and vertically. Epson tech. could not fix the problem. Had to send it back.

Details make it useless vs HP
I had high hopes for this printer, but two significant drawbacks made it unsuitable for my needs:
1) The color quality isn’t as vibrant as what I get from my $100 HP printer.
2) It cannot print double-sided borderless, which is a dealbreaker for me.

Better Than Expected
I have been using the ET-8550 for roughly a month now and I have been very impressed with the quality of photo prints that it makes.

The best all-'round printer using refillable ink tanks.
A technical marvel of automation from setup to printing. The image quality is astounding considering how so few ink colours can produce client-grade output on not only Epson papers, but also on 3rd party stock for which those companies produce ICC profiles. Right out of box ready
Right out of the box two prints in on plain paper look just like I did anted them. Came with a disc that I have no way to use.

Where is my printer???
I have yet to receive my printer. Called CS several times because the printer couldn’t be received without a signature and you refuse to let me change the shipping address. I’ve never had an online experience worse than this. Your company’s policy is way too rigid and customer unfriendly.

Great Inkjet Printer for smaller Giclee printing
I recently received ET-8550 printer, set up was very easy, and connecting my iMac wirelessly was also easy. Downloading the driver from the Epson website was straightforward and easy. Hardware malfunctions
Hardware malfunction after it just ran out of warranty. Nowhere within 500 miles to fix it. Phone call to EPSON was frustrating and stupid.

No more cartridge waste
Have now used this printer for 3 weeks, printed off dozens of pictures on both glossy & matte Epson papers and am very satisfied with the results. My only frustration was that I set it up first on WiFi, and many sheets came out only half printed, ruining that print. Epson's Deceptive Description
Epson's Large Format ET-8550 printer may print 13"x19" pictures. Its scanner will only scan 8 1/2"x13" legal size images. Legal size is actually 8 1/2"x14". Nowhere in the advertising or specifications do they mention the scanner's capacity. Returned it.

Great value, super easy set-up
Set-up was a breeze, no excess work involved. I use the USB cable connection, makes it a LOT easier. It replaced an Artisan 1430 that was 12 years old. Love the CD/DVD printer function, the basic reason I bought it, one of the few left with this function. Color output is great, software is totally simple to use. The ball is gone outta the park.

Fulfils our needs Excellent.

Phantom Jam Dance (RUN!)

When you buy the Espon 8550 Printer for the first time, it's going to print out blank pieces of paper for a little bit, Do a print head cleaning on you printer, you have to do it a billion times because it's trying to break the printer in.
