Enjoying this camera!
I am a Wildlife Photographer, focusing on birds and upgraded from the R6 M2 to the R5 M2. The speed, accurate auto focusing, pre-focusing ability and the Highlight tone Priority are a game changer! As I prefer to shoot in bright light, I am not overly concerned that this camera does not perform as well as the R6 M2 in low light. Overall, a good choice for me!

Not worth it for a top of the line camera
Focusing lets you down at critical moments. Despite all conditions and settings being right. You can only get half of photos in focus.
ISO noise increases rapidly for a top of the line camera.
There is som clunking sound when you turn gently from landscape to portrait mode. This happens intermittently.
Is this the way it was designed or is it a lemon?

Excellent Camera with High Noise Levels
I enjoy using my Canon R5 Mark Ii; however, my biggest disappointment is the high iso noise levels are significantly higher than my 5D Mark IV and R1. After seeing the images produced by the R5 Mark II compared to my other 2 cameras, I believe 30 megapixels is the sweet spot. Most images from my R5 Mar II need to have noise reduction in Lightroom applied. Otherwise, the...

Wonderful!
I bought this camera when it first came out and have no complains. It takes amazing pictures and has a lot of useful features. I haven't worked with an R1 or R3 so I can't compare it to that but for a high tier camera it meets my expectations.

Simply superb camera
Canon EOS R5 2 for wildlife photography. Beginning amateur. After owning film cameras and an array of DSLR bodies I moved through R 7, R6 and R6 II with delight, learning from friends and following tips from generous internet posters I became confident enough to buy an R5 Mark II and the results I have seen within a couple of months have made me a very happy beginning a...

Very nice upgrade from the R5 and R6ii
I've owned an R6ii, an R5 and now an R5ii since April 2025. In my view, the R5ii is far superior to the R6ii and R5 when it comes to action photography. It simply acquires focus faster especially on smaller objects such as song birds, tracks and sticks to moving subjects more reliability, reduces rolling shutter to a level that seldom needs the mechanical shutter to be ...

Canon R5 MARK II
It’s a big difference upgrading from 5D MK IV TO R5 MK II for me. With the sophisticated AF system, I was able to capture lots of images in sharp focus that I was unable to do with my old camera. I have always wondered how others were able to capture so many incredible shots with an incredible timing. Now I know.

Excellent All Around Body, tracking for wildlife and commercial work!
I received my body to add to the R-5 and R that I had used for some time. I was unsure if the improvements were enough to warrant the cost. I had it a couple weeks before a project and did some trial shooting and setup. I really liked the improvements to the focus that follows your eye it works well. Much better than a rental R-3 I used for a project a couple years ag...

If you're on the fence and need a serious tool...
Just do it and take the leap on getting this. I couldn't have imagined this was such an improvement over my EOS R, that I have been happy with for many years for still images. I needed the video upgrades that the R5 line has, but have realized how much of an improvement the still imaging is on this. Not to mention the speed and silence this thing operates under. I am so...

Vastly improved camera for fast action photography.
Extremely fast and accurate autofocus. Excellent for sports and wildlife photography. Compared to my R5, the focusing locks on and tracks moving subjects better. The pre shooting ( precapture ) is game changing for sports and fast moving wildlife. I’m using firmware 1.0.3 and so far, I’ve seen no concerns. If you have an R5 and primarily shoot weddings, product photogra...

Great camera
I've had this camera for 8 months and the picture quality is absurd. I've very happy with this product. The camera did freeze on me several times and one time I lost the entire clip I was filming but the problem hasn't happened for 4-5 months now. The camera performs very well. This camera can overheat in hot temperatures while shooting high volume. But it is quick at c...

Very capable but Many settings to be made
There is a very capable camera for both stills and video, but there are innumerable settings to be made before going into the field. I'll see how long the time window is to reach a configuration that I am confident with. Seems like Canon could simplify this process, and then the user could build from there.

Great camera (real flagship)
Camera is great, i have had no problems with the body or any attached lenses. Video works great and has helped in a short film i am working on and the photos consistently turn out great when exported to lightroom.

Blown away. Buy one!
I started my transition from DSLRs to mirrorless last summer (2024) with the purchase of an R5 and the RF 28-70mm F2 L. The huge leap mirrorless represents blew me away. Then the R5 Mark II came out. So many additional features and capabilities! I almost immediately sold the R5 (while unloading the 2 5D Mark IVs) and bought 2 R5 Mark IIs. I have since replaced all of my...
