a good compass
This is an actual functioning compass. I can use my own standard pencil instead of having to have special leads or a special size. And it works. It is not so easy to find such a simple thing. Thank you!

General Precision Pencil Compass
This is a great tool. It is durable (all metal) and holds a standard diameter pencil not special leads. The clamp for the pencil is metal and has a thumb-screw adjustment not a slide clamp that slips. Recommend. Staples delivery was very fast.

Good old-fashioned device
Rugged and works and allows you to use a standard pencil or pen instead of lead pieces.

Excellent!
At a decent price this is an excellent instrument. It does a great job because it’s legs stay in place when drawing.

Rust Proof Metal Compass

The best
Don't ever get a plastic compass -- they don't hold their measurement. But this one does. It is held open by a spring and held closed by the adjustable screw. So as you're drawing your circle it is held closed and won't slip. It will take any kind of pencil also so you're not limited on using their lead.
