I bought 2, but one of two was dead on arrival. The dead one sounds like monster. I have to wait couple of weeks for a change. And finally i got "REFURBISHED" one. Yeah.. It was not a good deal at all. I think i got scammed

Not Entirely 16TB
When connecting the Drive, it reads only 14.5 TB, So where the 1.5 TB missing. This is not right.

First drive DOA
The hard drive I received was dead on arrival. It spun up and seemed to be working fine, but it wasn't recognized by any device. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't an exchange process. I had to purchase a replacement and then return the original, which meant I was out a lot of money while waiting for the return to process.

Work flawlessly in my Synology NAS.
I have had three 16TB drives in my synology NAS for 9 months now and the three drives are working great. They are a bit of an overkill and expensive for my home NAS. Wife has thousands of hi resolution photos and videos from our world travels, so thought big to start with for thousands more.

NAS Drive
Very pleased with the support from WD. Did have a hard drive failure in my NAS device, sent the drive to WD under warranty and WD sent a new drive back.

Exactly what you need for a media server
Upgraded from a WD Red 4TB 256cache 5400rpm drive to this 16tb Red Pro running at 7200rpm w/512cache. The 4TB drives buffered 4k videos so bad I couldn't watch. These new 16th 7200rpm drives are streaming 20gb 4k videos without breaking a sweat. Enjoy.

Based on your concern, if the drive is not showing up on the computer then it could be due to insufficient power supply to the drive for operation. To isolate the cause of the drive failure, it is recommended to connect the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer and check the drive for any damage or defect.
We recommend connecting the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer, to test the health of the drive using Western Digital Dashboard for Windows.

If the test is unfortunately inconclusive and you just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary.

Fast shipping.
Arrived well before anticipated date. Have not removed the drives from their boxes yet to do any sort of analysis. I would like to see them packaged better in the future, given the way some mail carriers handle our packages.

Bait and Switch
Bought on Cyber Monday sale on WD website. Only after purchase was informed Drive was on Back Order. If I had known drive was Back Ordered, then I wouldn't have purchased. Now 3 weeks later, told drive isn't available and will get a refund. Missed Cyber Monday deals due to WD's dishonesty. Congratulations WD, you just lost a lifelong WD customer and fan.

Hard to review a NAS drive that is on back-order.
WD's internal databases need to talk to each other better. I cannot review a drive that has not been shipped to me yet.

25% of my order didn't work
1/4 didn't work. HGST has better QC. Bought 4x16TB drives, 3 of them booted up, one didn't. Then when I went to RMA it, they said it was out of warranty. What a joke. So after waiting 3 weeks for them to ship the drives, they're out of warranty and making me wait longer to get a replacement while they figure out their side of the house.
