New WD BLACK 6TB came dead on arrival
I was very happy when the new WD BLACK 6TB HDD was delivered to my house ahead of the promised date.
But after I spent 2 hours desperately trying to initialize it or otherwise format it using various tools, including WD toolset, I became very disappointed.
Some tools reported me internal HDD error and some tools do not see this drive connected to begin with. Which is ...

Response from Staples :
Hello Lenny12345,
We're sorry to hear your user experience with the WD_Black Gaming Internal Drive. Based on your concern, if the drive is not showing up on the computer then it could be due to insufficient power supply to the drive for operation, a faulty cable or power connecter, an internal drive not seen by BIOS. To isolate the cause of the drive failure, it is recommended to connect the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer and check the drive for any damage or defect.
We recommend connecting the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer, to test the health of the drive using Western Digital Dashboard for Windows.
"Western Digital Dashboard: How to Install and Use"
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31759#subject2
If the test is unfortunately inconclusive and you just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary.
"How to Get an RMA to Replace a Defective Product, Obtain a Power Supply, or USB Cable for a WD Product":
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10336
You can also open a support ticket in brief with possible screenshots on the given link, the technical support team get back to you in a earliest possible time. Please refer to the link mentioned: https://support-en.wd.com/app/ask/session/ We will be happy to assist you.
All our products must pass our stringent quality standards before leaving our factory to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship. We stand behind our products throughout the device's factory warranty period. Please contact us via the phone to ensure an overall good experience with Western Digital. We'd be happy to help.

Really Good bang for buck, But….
It has a tendency to slow down the computer when running larger applications as soon as it starts up. I’ve also seen it cause a BSOD (blue screen of death) when immediately trying to run a very demanding game as soon as I start up the PC. I highly recommend their SSD over the HDD although the only problem I’ve noticed with an SSD is that games take 10X longer to downloa...

Great Performance and very vert Long Life
I was astonished about this kind of "HD Black" from Western Digital.
We bougth this 1 Gb device around ten years ago (maybe even before) because other cheaper disks were faulty and nearly every year.we had to change and reinstall.
At current date we've been using it over 30 thousands "Power on hours" and nearly 2.000 "load cycles" as i do realise by analising disk sta...

thumbs up
Had another Seagate malfunction. Not knocking the competition, but you get what you pay for. The black drive is excellent. If it is of the same quality of other WD drives, can expect it to last a long time. Clone from a backup was uncomplicated and without problems. Saw a couple reviews about the noise of the drive. This one is silent. No noise, clicking. Happy camper. ...

Good quality but keeping inventory too long
Received by shipment, the drive quality is good -- quiet and fast, then found out the manufacturing date is 5 years ago. It must have been sitting in the warehouse for some time.

Perfect As A One Gig Replacement Hard Drive
The subject drive was boxed well and was delivered in a short period of time. But the drive came with no power or data cables. Also you will need to download the software and instructions to clone the old drive's files and Operating System to the new drive. So if you start to get bad clusters on the old drive look for a replacement immediiately. The software worked we...

WD Black 1 TB drive is very quiet.
Instructions for using with Win 7 said to upgrade Intel controller software and then download program from WD site. I tried and failed. Nevertheless I partitioned the drive and it works fine but then I've only had it a week. I bought it b/c the warranty was longer than a year - 3 years - I think.

WD® Black™ 1TB 3.5 SATA Desktop Internal Hard Drive
It was delivered very fast for an online purchase. It was exactly as described I purchased from Staples because i was in a hurry to get this product but it would have been cheaper to buy elsewhere.
