This is a very good shredder. It is fast, relatively quiet, and powerful. I have not had any problems putting 16 sheets in--this shredder eats them up with ease.

Setup was pretty easy, but it was difficult to get the wheels inserted into their slots on the bottom of the shredder. You really have to push them in hard.
The only real drawback with this shredder is that there is a protective plastic film strip that sits below the opening. I presume it's to keep dust out and to also prevent something like a tie from getting caught in the blades. The drawback with it, however, is that it makes it difficult to shred a small number of sheets because it takes considerable force to muscle the sheets past the protective film strip. You really need to fold the sheets of paper in half first to get some rigidity so that you can insert them past the film strip. Also, because the blades are so far down in the top, you must put small sheets or credit cards in lengthwise in order for the blades to actually grab them.

I bought this shredder because I thought that it was nice looking and the specs on it read impressive, However when I got it home and used it, the bin is very small and doesn't hold very much which requires you to do a lot of dumping. The sensor doesn't work properly and the paper fills up in the bin past capacity which makes opening it to dump it out becomes difficult because it jams the bin. When you do ope the bin bits of paper comes out everywhere. I am so disapointed with this shredder.

So far so good. This shredder is of good solid construction and used by a small office daily. The pull out basket is great. Previously owned a lift off type which eventually loses its connectivity after too many times emptying.

This is a very good shredder I like it very much I use it for personal and business very reliable Iused it for a good 30 mins before it would get hot baskets fill up to it standards of 244 sheets before dumping . GREAT !!!!
Comments about Staples 16-Sheet High Speed Cross-Cut Shredder:
This Shredder is great except for a few minor issues that I am experiencing.
First off, it is extremely heavy. Thank goodness it has wheels or it would be impossible to move around. If you will need to bring this to more than one room or more than one level, be aware that you can't really take it apart to make it lighter or more manageable.
The Second issue I have is that due to I think the safety features it is difficult to feed one piece of paper in by itself especially if it is a thin paper like a receipt. The mechanism to engage the motor need something a bit more firm to make it start.
Other than that it is very very fast, easy to empty with the large drawer and seems to work well so far. I have had no jamming at all.
Comments about Staples 16-Sheet High Speed Cross-Cut Shredder:
The shredder does a good job but a little noisier than expected. Shreds several full sheets of paper at a time quickly and efficiently but does not grab smaller pieces of paper alone. Smaller pieces of paper (messages, etc) need to be included with the larger sheets of paper.
Yes the Staples 16-sheet High Speed Cross-Cut Shredder does have the lockout key feature to prevent unauthorized use of the shredder.

Q:
Why does Staples make it so difficult to get information about this product - by not showing a complete list of Specifications as can be found for other printers?
Most notably, Security Level, Cool Down Time and Throat Width are all missing from the description.
Asked on 4/24/2012 by FerdBurfle from Here and now
The paper size after cust is 0.157 x 1.575 inch. The cool down time is 40 minutes and the throat width is 9 inches.

Q:
What is the width of the paper slot (or throat)? I'm looking for a shredder with at least 9.5" to shred junk-mail envelopes.
