.What Are Wireless Earbuds?
Wireless earbuds are a type of in-earbud headphone, which means the majority of the speaker device sits inside of the user’s ear canal. They don’t require a wired connection, offering the convenience of connecting through wireless protocols.
Bluetooth is the most common wireless connection, which digitally encodes and transmits audio over short distances. It’s incredibly reliable and most new devices have built-in functionality. However, some wireless earbud sets, such as Apple’s AirPods, connect via Wi-Fi instead.
hat Is the Difference Between Wireless and True Wireless Earbuds?
There are two categories of bluetooth earbuds to choose from: wireless and true wireless. Both feature a wireless connection to the playback device and allow more freedom and flexibility than wired headphones. However, there are some key differences.
Wireless earbuds may still have a cord connecting the two earbuds together. True wireless versions do not use a wire to connect the earbuds, making them completely separate units. True wireless earbuds offer a sleek and refined experience but may be easier to lose than wireless ones.
How Long Do Wireless Earbuds Last?
The exact playtime of your wireless earbuds depends on the specific model and your listening habits. However, most wireless earbud sets last for somewhere around 5 hours without charge. Some modern models include charging cases, which allow users to replenish the earbuds’ battery without being near a wall socket or other stationary source of power. If you have a charging case for your wireless earbuds, you may get closer to 20 hours of playtime.
