The 0.5 lead kept breaking as I was trying to accomplish my Algebra I problems for 6 classes.

Lead breaks
The lead constantly breaks with the slightest bit of pressure. It is frustrating and wasteful.

Just okay
The lead worked fine for me and it lasted for quite sometime before I have to refill it again. The eraser was not great. It's hard and leave streaky residues on the paper. I use another eraser for this. But you just can't beat the price when it comes on sale.

pencil lead breaks easily
STAPLES® NO. 2 MECHANICAL PENCILS FINE 0.5MM ASSORTED 12PK . The pencil lead breaks easily which makes it difficult to write with. Would not recommend.

I would not recommend these mechanical pencils at all. When you begin to write, the lead immediately breaks. I have used other brands that withstand constant use. I use a mechanical pencil 9 hours a day in my job and these have been a real letdown . One positive is the fine lead. It’s perfect and does not smear

Staples brand mechanical pencils works well. The tips are adequate, as well as the writing.
I use them all day during a 10 hour shift to make marks, initial, and write dollar amounts. With that, I need to retract often. So far, they last a pretty long time. Also, I love the variety of colors in the box.
