Great Metal Mechanical Pencil
Metal mechanical pencils hold up over time compared to plastic disposable ones, and also cause less hand fatigue during use. However, soke are too heavy for my smaller hands, or designed so the pencil lead breaks frequently. I’m loving this Pentel pencil - I’m a casual user but I tend to do all my most important writing in pencil so I can erase and edit when I need ...

Great while they last
I have owned 3 of these and they are a great pencil. But every one of them broke at the exact same point after about 6 months use. Flawed design.

The eraser is absolutely useless!
I really, really like the feel and weight of this pencil and the control it gives me, but why bother to include an eraser if you can use only a quarter of it before replacing it? When you extend the eraser upward when it wears down, there's no teeth on the metal jacket to prevent the eraser from slipping down. So frustrating that I ended up tossing it in the garbage. Th...

Nice for woodworking.
I picked this up based on a YouTubeers recommendation. It lays down the finest line I have ever seen on wood.
I also have its kid brother, the 500. In the shop the other day, it slipped out of my hand and hit the concrete floor, bending the lead tube at the point.
I straightened the tube, but now the lead breaks off in 1/16" chunks when you advance it. I have n...

Just What I Was Looking For
I just moved into a new position and all I could find in the supply cabinet were those cheap little yellow mechanical pencils. I needed a more substantial pencil that would not lose the lead or the eraser whenever you touched it. The lead does not break when I start writing with it either. It's great!

An artist's point of view
I'm enjoying the Pentel Graph Gear 1000 Mechanical Pencil. It's stylish and user friendly. The retractable barrel offers protection while stowed away. My only negative experience is lead breakage within the barrel if you push too hard.
