I have been taking a drawing class, and I bought these just for fun. The next class turned out to be a portrait session, and I needed to cover the page quickly. These larger pencils are much better for quick sketches on larger drawing pads, as well as creating a soft graphite-covered background to erase into. I only wish Staples had the full set.
