Plug and Play
Just plug it into a USB port and go...
It isn't worth installing the software they provide, it just adds complexity to a simple situation. Plug it in and it shows up in Windows Explorer...that's all folks!

Our IT guy couldn't get this formatted for PC, seemed to be pre-formatted for only Mac.

The problem was with Staples not the product

lasted 2 years and corrupted.
My older Seagate external hard drives are way more reliable. They are all still running. This is the newest drive I bought 2 years ago. The drive is corrupted and not readable or mountable anymore.

This replaces a 500mg Seagate that worked for a longtime. I noticed I needed more backup space, so when I found this @ Staples, it was perfect. Set up is easy & if you need assistance 1-800# works great.

Difficult to see what was backed up
Easy to set up and download. However, it is very difficult to impossible to determine/verify what files have actually been downloaded. It appears that not all files checked off on list of files/photos to be saved were actually downloaded.

Backs up fine, and as an older model, is usable w/Seagate Manager software, which creates file backups that are as accessible as they would be on the internal HD they were backed up from, unlike any newer program from Seagate, all of which create backups that are NOT readily accessible.
