Package instructions are woefully lacking
Thank goodness I found these reviews. The language on the outermost end of this Double Sided Removable Tape is unclear and misleading at best. Nowhere on this package does it say to discard this Protective Wrap. Just a few more words would have saved all of us a whole bunch of frustration. Hope I like this product.

Double sided tape splits
I use this double sided tape to mount photos and have multiple dispensers since I use it a lot. However, recently, while using this tape, the very beginning of the roll, the tape splits and I end up unable to restart the roll. I tried several different times trying to free up an end to start using these rolls again. Very disappointing.

Double sided tape wont peel protective layer
Can't separate the non-stick layer. I've waste 1/2 a roll trying to peel off the protective layer

Non-starter
I bought this tape yesterday to mount some photographs. After half an hour, I had to give up. It was impossible to remove the protective lining.

To initially start the roll of our Scotch® Double Sided Tape, there is a protective wrap that is about 8 inches long. Just pull the tape out about 8 inches and use the cut blade on the dispenser to cut the tape. Throw that 8 inches of tape in the garbage. Now you can begin using the double sided tape. As the protective wrap is clear, you will probably not be able to see where the double sided tape begins and where the wrap ends, so you will just have to touch the top of the tape to make sure you have both sides of the adhesive exposed. This protective wrap is not included in the listed dimensions of the tape, the tape length starts from the point where the protective wrap ends. If this still doesn't work, please reach out to our team at 1-800-328-6276 and provide case 35503599. Our team is available Monday through Friday 8:00 - 4:30 CT. We hope this helps!

double sided tape, no backing
tape will not roll because it's sticking to the backing. I can pull some tape out but cannot place it properly on the item because the tape is sticking to the dispenser. Impossible to use the cutter, have to use scissors. I would have bought a tape runner but the store was sold out, I wonder why? Very disappointed in this product.

Tape Breaks While Dispensing It!
When the tape comes of the roll as it should...I love the product. But, when the tape breaks or comes off unevenly and I must spend time trying to find the edge so I can pull the tape back to the metal cutting rim I am frustrated. Great tape, poor Use instructions.
I too fought the perfectly clear tape not realizing that I had to discard the clear leader portion. The leader tape is there to keep dirt and grime from attaching to the tape while its on the store shelf. New instructions along with lightly cross-hatched leader will go a long way toward fixing this product. The 2-sided tape itself is excellent!

Frustration
Add me to the legion of customers who have wasted so much time trying to figure out how this tape works! If I had not read the reviews of other frustrated customers, I was prepared to mail the two sided tape back to 3M. You tell us how to refill the dispenser but not how to get it started. You can do better 3M!

A waste of my money
I have read so many reviews on the same complaint I have but I do not see any solutions from 3M. This tape is next to impossible to use since the back of the tape will not peel off. I have used other similar product and had no problem peeling the back off to make it double sided. 3M, you should rename this tape double cross and take it off the market.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. This tape does not have a removable liner but instead a protective non-sticky side for the first few rotations of the roll. Once you pull that out and cut it the tape comes off the roll double-side with nothing to remove. Hope that helps and sorry for the frustration.
