Leaving for a month-long, overseas trip in two days and was uploading all of the raw files on my SD cards to this drive and suddenly it stopped writing and said there was an error with the files. Don’t Waste Your Money
I bought this garbage back in September of 2024 and it’ has already stopped working in the middle of downloading images . This is the 2nd WD external hard drive that I’ve owned and will surely be the last. Don’t waste your money!

Less than 2 years old and mechanical failure. 3-year warranty doesn't cover data recovery and WD replaces your drive with a refurbished one that meets their "Stringent quality". Hmmm. I hope it's not as stringent as the one that just failed...

Setting Up My Passport Ultra for Mac
There was essentially no instruction on how to connect the external drive to my Mac. I had to search and search to find the connection instructions in the System Settings/General/Time Machine file.

Reliable enough, but a bit slow
I have had this portable drive for a few months now, and use it weekly for my photography needs from editing to storing images. Although it is not terribly fast (which is why I am now moving onto an SSD), I do not have issues with editing images from the hard drive and loading time for me is no issue.

Failed in the first month
This is my third 2TB Passport HDD and the second HDD to fail. The first one lasted less than a year, the second died in less than a month.
It was a major hassle to get a return authorization for the first failed drive, the second was a breeze. Perhaps WD knows they're shipping some bad product...

'Specifications' remarkably uninformative (!?!)
Nowhere to be found: RPM, cache and SATA specifications.
'Full Specifications' lacks this centrally relevant info and not even the extra effort of downloading the 'Data Sheet' rewards with any more hard facts on these drives.
Have WD lost faith in their customers ability to make sound judgements hence decided to not burden the world with the dry facts?

Non stop clicking and painfully slow
This drive clicks when connected to any computer and is painfully slow. It also doesn't play well with MACOS.

I've only used this a couple times. I plug it in like it says, but no icon. I used youtube and google to help fix the problem. still doesn't work! What a waste of money!
