I purchased two of these mats to protect the writing suface on my antique desk top from being scratched. The writing surface of my desktop is wood around the perimeter with a large leather insert in the center. I wanted a clear mat so you could see the beautiful leather under the mat. The product is very nice and would protect a surface well. However, on a desk with computer, the mouse doesn't work on the surface so it didn't work for me.
