Horrible Product. Please Don’t Buy.

A WASTE OF MY HARD_EARNED MONEY!!!
This piece of CRAP never performed for me!! The "SUPPORT" system was a hilarious joke. I never was able to reach anyone who could help. Any one who purchases backup equipment / accessories from Western Digital is a FOOL!!

Slowest HDD I have ever owned.
Absolute trash. Transfer speeds are nowhere near as advertised no matter what connection I make. Recently speeds have dropped to 40 MB/s and I bought a proper SSD. It will take 4 days to transfer all my old files off this 4TB paperweight.

Slow performance can be caused due to several factors like computer configuration, multiple applications running on the computer while trying to access or backup the data, fragmented disk which may also result in slow computer disk read capability, the total amount of data on a disk and the relative size of each file, encrypted backup or scanning of each file by anti-virus installed in the computer or USB port of the computer with which the drive is connected etc. Stopping applications and software that use CPU and memory, keeping all the files in a single directory instead spreading them in multiple directories, connecting the drive directly to the USB 3.0 port of the computer and avoiding the USB hub while using the drive, etc. are the recommended steps to enhance the performance of the drive. As a troubleshooting step, please ensure that the Hard Drive is connected directly on the USB 3.0 port of the computer and the files which you are attempting to copy are not in use by any other program of the computer. Unreliable, poor MTBF, slooooow!
Started building systems in the mid 1980s, using CP/M. Then IBM OEM partner, and so on. Ever since WD started manufacturing HDD they were my HDD of choice with better reliability. BAD BAD after Window 11 installed
DO NOT buy this. You will never know the next update going to be. Many manty People threw this brand away after window 11 Is installed. I upgrade WD driver too. still does NOT work properly, wayyyyyy too slow. that if you are lucky enough, many people can't even see their WD on the comp.

Buy 5TB and get almost 4TB. Changing this concept
Bought Passport Ultra 5TB came with almost 4TB. I was very upset because I paid for at least 5TB and not for less, you should change this concept of always delivering less than a little more GB. You should deliver at least the minimum of what you inform the consumer and no less.

Crapped out in less than a year.
Bought this drive in January 2023, 4 months later, Its broken and I can't access my files. Now my clients and I are screwed. Cant finish my current projects and now have to give refunds. Pretty terrible experience.

There can a few causes due to which the drive has behaving abnormally. Such causes include the faulty USB port of the drive or the computer, faulty USB cable of the drive or the drive itself may not be getting enough power to spin up and register on the computer to show up. Unsafe ejection of the drive during any read or write operation can also result in the corruption of the drive's partition. Best practice is to run diagnostics with WD Drive Utilities when a drive does not perform as expected or is behaving abnormally. We recommend avoiding USB hubs for external hard drives and therefore connect the drive directly to a USB 3.0 port on the computer. Heating problem
Hi.. My recently purchased (10 days back) My Passport Ultra drive is getting heated up easily even in not copying. While copying about 100 GB, it is getting heated up to 46 deg C. Sometimes comes to 48 deg C. Even without copying it comes to 42 - 43 deg C. Please give your reply.
