My WD drives have usually lasted a couple years before failing but unfortunately this one failed after only 3 months.

Dead just after the warranty
Just 15 days after the warranty expired, my WD Passport 2TB hard drive stopped working. It shows a bad sector error, and the data is no longer accessible. Two terabytes of photos and videos—priceless memories of my loved ones—are lost forever and cannot be recovered.

Please allow me to inform you that WD does not have any in-house data recovery service in order to recover the files from the affected/non-functional hard drives. You may need to contact a Data Recovery company to recover the data. Won't connect or show up on my Mac
No matter what I do this MyPassport won't show up on my Mac or in Disk Utility!! I've bought two of them on separate occasions and BOTH don't work. This has been so frustrating, I've watched the Youtube videos and tried so many things it shouldn't be this difficult.

Such causes include the faulty USB port of the drive or the computer, faulty USB cable of the drive or the drive itself may not be getting enough power to spin up and register on the computer to show up. Unsafe ejection of the drive during any read or write operation can also result in the corruption of the drive's partition. Best practice is to run diagnostics with WD Drive Utilities when a drive does not perform as expected or is behaving abnormally. We recommend avoiding USB hubs for external hard drives and therefore connect the drive directly to a USB 3.0 port on the computer. I like the MyPassport for Mac but ................
I would have given this new one 5 stars if WD had included the USB plug on the end of the cable like they did in a previous version of My Passport for Mac that I purchased. I have purchased several of these WD "solid state" My Passport for Macs. I find them more reliable (in terms of longevity) than WD's "non-solid-state" desktop external drives.

Do not buy
y Passport for my MacBook Pro has been a disaster. It was fine until they decided not to support their software. It was loaded when I registered the HD but it is dead now and I am left with nothing but the reminder that I haven't backed up my computer in over 90 days. I would not recumbent this company, Not with this kind of support or business plan.

Update von "Acronis true Image for WD" Sonoma???!!
Leider funktioniert "Acronis Treu Image for Western Digital" unter "MacOS Sonoma" nicht mehr. Es wäre net, wenn man durch ein Update diese enorme Schwäche beheben würde.
Unter "Ventura" lief es nach Update dann ja auch.
Bitte stellt auch ein Update für Sonoma bereit!

There are better drives out there
Really frustrated with this drive. I literally cannot upload large files (more than 5GBs) to the drive. An error message shows up everytime and does not allow me to upload the file. It's frustrating as a videographer when you need to upload a lot of footage and can't do that. My 5-year-old drive works better than this. I am just praying it doesn't crash because there ar...

WD Passport 1T for mac
The setup is way too complicated. I literally just need storage. It should be the simplest thing there is. I'm having to download software and share information as if it was Adobe Cloud. I shouldn't need a high level of computer literacy to back up my storage. It's. Just Storage.

Difficult to use on Mac
I had to install WD discovery software and NTFS software to get this drive to work the first, and eventually it did work. About 3 years later I am no longer able to write to this drive. I'm trying to troubleshoot, but it's a pain and I dont have time to do that.
