Startech is one of very few companies who actually tell you what chipset they are using. There are a lot of cheap adapters out there with flakey chipsets. I ordered this directly from startech.com specifically because they explicitly advertise the Realtek 8156BG.

Boom! Finally fast broadband for my hyperfibre
I have been trying to connect my 4Gbps Hyperfibre from Chorus NZ to my Macbook but until this Adapter, I hadn't found a reliable way to achieve it. Instantly got 2.3Gbps up and down which is amazing.
