Not useable in backup applications
Though it is not specifically stated in the Seagate specifications this unit is NOT suitable for use with backup software. Decent product for the price
Seems to work well so far. I didn’t want any of the Seagate backup software and reformatted to exFAT on a single partition. No problems working across Debian and macOS.
I considered buying an enclosure and an 8TB HDD, figuring that would be cheaper, but I couldn’t find a setup cheaper than this drive.

Lasted only 13 months
Was used for a Windows server's nightly backups. Solid and fast performance. Was good while it lasted. Will in fact buy another one.

Good price
Great HHD. It’s fast considering its and HHD. Very good price/storage ratio. It’s relative quiet during operation and has a good size. I like the way it comes packeted. I will keep it in its same package for long term storage.

Prompt communication
I ordered the item, got conformation, had my wife pick it up, no problem. This was a gift, and as far as I know the recipient is happy with it, although she warned me that if I were going to use one myself I had better follow the instructions carefully, because while backing up is fairly straightforward an error could be serious

STAY AWAY! 1 year warranty is a lie!
Bought this drive back in May, one month later and its beeping! I check Seagate's website and its says that the warranty expired in March! WHAT!?
Luckily the drive still reads and writes. (FOR NOW) So I can still move the files somewhere safe until I can get a replacement from a much more reliable brand. And I've been a Seagate purist all my life!

Working Well
It is working very well. Easy to set up. Being a Mac user, I think I should have reformatted it to the preferred Mac format but it is working with the Mac using the Extended FAT format of the drive.

Amazing Storage
My son is a huge gamer and always complaining that he's out of space. We use this external drive for his Steam games. It is also quiet which is perfect. I could not ask for a better external hard drive.

Easy plug and play storage!
I obtained this external storage device to pair with my security system to expand my video storage. The unit easily plugged into my security system and setup was a breeze. The value for this 8TBs of storage is unbeatable and you cannot top the Seagate quality. Highly recommended.

works as expected!
Bought this to store some back-up files and photos on my desktop and works great. Only downside is that it is a little bulky, but shouldn't be a problem if you want to store it away or put it out of site. File transfers were fairly fast so no complaints there.

Great expansion

Soooo much storage
Since my husband has been working from home, he's trying to backup things more consistently for his tech job. Is 8TB overkill? Maybe. Great storage
These was perfect for storing my music library and having extra storage space for more. Easy to use. Sleek design with the black and curved look. 8 TB is a great amount of available storage. Recommend to anyone looking for a safe, quality back up to any information or data.
