Don't believe plug and play
Absolutely zero guidance on how to format to use on a Mac. No help in the box. No help on the Hard Drive. No help online. Should't be this difficult to use a "plug and Play" hard drive!

Hi, Please be informed that the WD Elements Desktop Hard Drive is a plug-and-play device designed and tested for Windows and MacOS. Please know that the device is ready for Windows computers out of the box but can be formatted using the HFS+J file system for use with macOS.

Enclosure blocks non-WD drives
I am attempting to swap the 12TB drive out of the enclosure for an Iron Wolf Pro NAS 16TB drive. The NAS drive has 14TB worth of data already on it, works fine internally, but if you put it in the WD Elements enclosure, the drive is not recognized by the NAS server or my laptop (both Debian). Exact same configuration/cables/power supply but with the WD 12TB drive work...

Works badly as USB disk for Keenetic router 1810
With Elements Desktop formatted as NTFS I receive very often warning "Dirty file system". Disk becomes unreadable with this warning. I have to disconnect to make disk check and repair in Windows. Very unstable work as a USB HDD. And it is not clear whose fault is this. I would never buy WD or Keenetic after such behavior.

Didn't work straight out of the box
Absolute garbage. I'll be returning this expensive paper weight. I should have known to stick with Seagate.

Excellent hard drives, great customer support.
I have had several WD hard drives over the years...good stuff.
I was unable to format my latest on, so I called WD customer support and they got me up and running. Hard drive works well now.

Perfect for my media library! No complaints
This hard drive was a good solution for keeping my movies off of my Thunderbolt 3 drive and my internal ssd, and allocate that fast storage editing, and my os. This has 4tb of movies on it currently and my time machine back up and I’ve never noticed any playback issues like i noticed with my nas (mycloud ex2 ultra 10tb)

Excellent value for peace of mind
Absolutely easy to setup and configure. I have it shared across my network for backing up System Images and Data. It's a relief to be able to backup all of our PC's internally, and not have to worry about space.

6TB external drive
I bought 2 of the 6TB external drives. So far so good. I have them hooked up to my USB 3.0 ports. I can get around 85-120MB/s writing speed. I also like the design of the drives.

Great backup drive
Excellent performance. I have been using it as primary storage for videos and using it to edit those videos. It performs quite well for a task it was not designed to do.
