    The 50' CAT6 cable works great for my purposes. In terms of speed, I get about the same upload/download speed as using WIFI (the distance is different though since I could not route the CAT6 cable in a straight line to the source. Using WIFI, i'm only about 15ft from the source) The modem is on the first floor, computer on the second. My desktop does not have WIFI, so this worked just fine. I don't know if there is any difference in speed between the CAT6 and the CAT5 of this length, but I went with the CAT6 since it was only a little more expensive, and it boasted 2X speed compared to CAT5.

    This was an "opened package" and obviously a return. Apparently it was never checked out by Staples to be sure it was in operational condition. Once taken out of the poackeage it was obvious that whoever returned it had abused it to the point that the cable was partially cut and therefore unusable. Fortunately, the cut was near the end-- I cut off the defective piece and installed a new connector-- anyone else probably would have returned it (for someone else to purchase?) or discarded it.

    Good product in every way. My only reason for 4 stars is that it's Staples Brand and as such I would expect a lower price. For a few dollars more I could have gotten a Belkin CAT6 cable. Outside of that the cable is perfect!
