Mostly used for school geometry - the straight edge is straight which is handy as it can be used for drawing short lines. Pity it's not made in the USA, though.

The only reason I got this particular protractor is for it's size. It's a couple inches longer than most other (cheaper and more easily found) protractors. For around $3 it's nothing special. It does the job as well as this kind of product can. I personally used it for determining angles on maps, but it will work fine in any situation. The only reason I'd recommend against it is because of the price.
