Tape dispenser works great!

I'm surprised at the review stating this product is junk. I'm back here to purchase a 2nd one for our business. The 1st one we had works pretty well for our light-use purposes, shipping 1-2 boxes per day. It works better than an older one we have. The tape rolls off easily and we don't have a problem with it getting stuck or tangled, like we do with our old one. However, I haven't used that many different shipping tape dispensers, so I wouldn't know if there was a phenomenal product out there.

I have an old tape dispenser that works well. My dad needed one, and I bought this. The difference is in the metal guide. On this the guide is about a half inch thick so the tape sticks to it. So you have to get the tape to release from a half inch surface before it moves freely.

On the good dispenser only the narrow edge of the guide (maybe 1/10th" thick) touches the tape. So when you pull on the tape it only sticks slightly and then moves smoothly through.

How much of that guide comes in contact with the tape is the difference between a dispenser where the tapes moves smoothly and one where the tape catches and has to be pulled free.

I have to agree with the other reviewers who report that the tape sticks to the metal retainer. As a result, every time I try to use it to seal a package the tape will not roll off the gun, but instead gets stuck. Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Product is useless.

Unfortunately I have to agree with those who give it the thumbs down. If you use it once in a while, then you'll be fine. However if you rely upon it every day, then you're going to be disappointed with the tape getting stuck on the wrong part of the dispenser and its general not-quite-up-to-snuff performance.

I absolutely hate the dispenser with the 'shield/stop' that has to be pressed to the package in order for the tape to cut and release.

Does this dispenser have that shield/stop piece?

  We offer an Acrylic tape in clear, 1.89" x 54.7 yards, 6 rolls per pack that we suggest. The diameter core this dispenser will accomodate is 3" so you can essentially use any of our 1.89" wide tape with 3" core diameters.
