The Targus Lap Chill Mat provides a comfortable and ergonomic work surface to keep you and your laptop cool. The Chill Mat rests on your lap and disperses heat, using dual fans to provide ventilation which can be obstructed if the laptop is used on a pillow or comforter. Simply plug the USB connector into the laptop to activate cooling. The ergonomic tilt makes typing easy while the soft neoprene material provides cushioned comfort on your lap. The open design allows fans to run quietly and stimulates constant airflow. Four rubber stops on the face of the Chill Mat prevents the laptop from slipping. Simpler cooling mats don't vent as well and easily slip around. Full of vent holes and large dual fans keep this mat cool on my lap and keeps the laptop cooler. The tilt angle is better. Open side make it easy to move with the laptop when I get up. Fabric on bottom keep it from slipping and is comfortable. It is wider than many mats and is perfect for my widescreen laptop.

Well built product but check your measurements before you buy it to see if your wide screen laptop will fit.
This is supposed to fit a 17" laptop but the adjustable rubber "grips" that are supposed to keep the laptop from slipping back towards you don't adjust far enough outward to match the feet of my 15.6" widescreen Dell Studio. A laptop is designed to be supported by the laptop feet.
This is an issue because the Chill Mat "grips" are holding up the laptop from the Chill Mat but not where they are supposed to so you have to be careful they are not pushing up in a pressure sensitive spot on the underside of the laptop. The adjustable "grips" come loose and are easy to lose.
If I remove the "grips", the 15.6" widescreen laptop would be sitting directly on the surface of the Chill Mat which defeats the whole purpose. A 17" widescreen probably wouldn't work.
Check the distance between the feet on the bottom of your laptop. If they are over 10.5" widthwise, your laptop is too wide to work properly with this chill Mat.

Had a discount coupon and was very unhappy with the cooling pad I currently had. The salesperson was very helpful, recommended this one as it was the same one she had. I could have gotten a cheaper one but I took her advice and was glad I did.

Purchased as a replacement. I'm happy with my purchase and especially like that it's so quiet in comparison to my old one. The surface is non slip which makes you feel safer with it on a table or on your lap.
