Purchased one for my own office to help decide whether this model would be a good option for customer networks. The wireless functions of the router are good, but without Ethernet status lights which are found on most routers and switches, there is no way to know if Ethernet connections are working properly and at the ideal speed. For a multi-room office or retail store, the lack of Ethernet status lights is a problem.

Comments about Netgear R6300-100NAS AC1750 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wireless AC Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router:

This router is very fast and a great improvement over the 3 year old netgear router I was using. The old router was giving me problems so I decided to upgrade to the R6300. This router is being used in a room that has a thick stone wall and it can even get resonably good connections through the stone wall.

The range is nowhere nearly as good as advertised. I bought the largest router thinking it would cover more of my home, as it stated. It was no better than the router I had for 1/3 of the price. I was hoping to eliminate the need for an extender. But I still need the extender and the signal is no better on the extender then it was before. Save your money before buying this unit and buy a good one for much less money. I was so excited about my purchase and so disappointed once I hooked it up. Its only pro was ease of setting up.

This is a great router. Setup was a breeze. Fast connections too.

The best part is range an ability to cope with interference. We have a very congested 2.4Ghz band in our house with multiple baby monitors that created lots of connection problems with our WiFi. Since putting this router in, we had had zero interference issues. Best router yet.

The Range of this router in meters is?
            Asked on 6/7/2013 by Regent

            2 answers

            • A:

The range varies depending on a lot of factors, including whether you are using the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands. Using the 2.4GHz band and no interference, the range can be up to 100 meters, but this will decrease depending on obstructions like walls, and how much wireless interference there is.

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The Netgear router does not give a range in meters because many factors may affect the range such as; network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction.

what is a compatable range extender to complement this router. & Is there any advantage to adding the 6200 adaptor to my PC that already connects wireless to my existing router

yes, there is a great advantage. before i added the A6200 adapter to the laptop, i was getting between 30 to 50 Mbps transfer rate. adding this adapter now brings me to the 850 to 900 Mbps rate. much much faster now

            • A:

No advantage to adding a 6200 adapter to computer that already has a "g" wireless card, if its an "a" or "b" card the upgrade is worth the cost. The Netgear Universal WiFi Range Extender (WN3000RP) is an excellent choice for this router.

I have a Brother MFC-7840W printer that's not compatible with Apple Air Print (for my iPhone & iPad). I read that this router is Air Print compatible. Could I now connect the printer to the router (either wirelessly or USB) and print directly from my "i" devices to the Brother??
