Do I always receive free shipping on all orders?

On what products or purchases do I earn Staples Rewards®?

As a Staples Rewards® Premier Gold member, you receive 5% back in Rewards on everything except postage, phone/gift cards and savings passes. This applies to any purchase by phone at 1-877-878-3331, online at staples.com, or in any Staples® U.S. store.

How do I make sure I am receiving all of my Premier Gold benefits?

To ensure you are receiving all of your Staples Rewards® Premier Gold benefits, just use your 10-digit Rewards number when ordering online at staples.com®, by phone at 1-877-878-3331 and in any Staples U.S. store.

It’s easy to take advantage of all your benefits:

  • Online: Just be sure to have your Staples Rewards number listed within your staples.com profile by logging in, going to “My Account,” “Personal Information,” and entering your 10-digit Rewards number in the area that says “Staples Rewards Customer Number.”

  • By Phone: To place an order, call 1-877-878-3331 and reference your Staples Rewards Premier Gold number.

  • In store: Show the cashier your Staples Rewards Gold card at the register before checking out.

As a Staples Rewards® Premier Gold member, you receive Staples Rewards on ink, toner and case and ream paper products. You also receive instant savings on copy & print products and services. When these products are subject to promotions: (i) which reduce the price of a product (such as promotions offering instant savings or coupons), you will receive the lower of the instant savings or the promotional price; and (ii) which give you additional rewards (such as promotions offering double rewards), we will match that promotional price with a combination of instant savings and rewards. You are responsible for paying the applicable sales tax. To see your exclusive pricing on copy & print products and services, be sure to be logged in to staples.com®. Staples Rewards are issued online monthly, but only if the value of the reward is at least $5. Rewards expire the last day of the month following the month in which they are issued and cannot be redeemed after the expiration date. Monthly balances of less than $5 will roll over through the end of the following calendar quarter. Unissued rewards will expire at the end of the following calendar quarter unless a Qualifying Purchase is made during that rollover period. Staples® Rewards Program (“Program”)

Terms and Conditions (“Terms”)

Premier Gold 5% back on everything except postage, phone/gift cards and savings passes.

  1. Membership

    This Program is available to Staples® customers 18 years of age or older with a valid U.S. mailing address and a valid email address. To receive Rewards or Recycling Rewards, the Program member (“Member”) number must be in good standing. Program applications are available at Staples U.S. stores, online at staples.com or by calling 1-800-793-3320. Staples must receive an accurate, legible and complete application in order to enroll in the Program. Staples is not responsible for Member applications received by Staples that are not in compliance with these Terms. Purchases made pursuant to a contract with Staples Contract & Commercial, Inc., are not eligible for the Staples Rewards Program.

  2. Qualifying Purchases

    As a Staples Rewards® Premier Gold member, you receive 5% back in rewards on all items excluding taxes, postage, prepaid phone cards, delivery charges, coupons, gift cards and purchases made on third-party websites. You also receive instant savings on Copy & Print products and services. When these products are subject to promotions: (i) which reduce the price of a product (such as promotions offering instant savings or coupons), you will receive the lower of the instant savings or the promotional price; and (ii) which give you additional Rewards (such as promotions offering double Rewards), we will match that promotional price with a combination of instant savings and Rewards.

    A Member is eligible to receive credit (“Rewards”) on the Member’s account for qualifying purchases made by the Member (“Qualifying Purchases”), as defined below, that are made at Staples® stores in the U.S., by phone at 1-877-878-3331 or online at staples.com® and for which a Membership account is identified. All Qualifying Purchases are subject to verification by Staples before being credited to a Member’s account. Unless otherwise specified, throughout these Terms, the phrase “Qualifying Purchase” and “Qualifying Purchase Amount” mean the amount paid at checkout after application of all promotions, coupons, instant savings and Rewards redemption. (To the extent that product-specific coupons were applied pro rata to calculate Qualifying Purchase Amount(s) for Rewards, this means the coupons were allocated proportionately across all items in a transaction).

    The following Purchases are ineligible toward earning Rewards: Postage stamps, prepaid phone cards, gift cards, savings passes, purchases made on third-party websites, taxes and shipping fees do not count toward earning Rewards, or towards reaching Plus or Premier status.

    The following Qualifying Purchases are eligible toward earning Instant Savings: Copy & Print products and services in Staples stores in the U.S., on print.staples.com and documents.staples.com excluding self-serve copies, postage stamps, shipping and shipping supplies, merchandise used in assembling Copy & Print jobs, Computer Workstation, Staples Promotional Products®, custom printing orders placed online at staplescustomprinting.btobsource.com and all other third-party sites.

    Qualifying Purchases made by the Member but for which the Member’s account number was not used at the time of the transaction can be added to the Member account if Staples is contacted with the original 17-digit receipt barcode number from the store receipt or order number, and the Member’s account number, at staples.com or by calling 1-800-793-3320 as promptly as possible after the date of the transaction, but within the current quarter or the two previous calendar quarters only. Only purchases made by the Member may be added to the Member’s account. Purchases are credited upon verification within five days after they are requested. Qualifying Purchases that have been verified are applied to the Member’s account with a transaction date of the date approved. A maximum of 10 purchases may be requested to be credited per day. Qualifying Purchases cannot be transferred, sold or bartered.

  3. Rewards

    The Members’ accounts will receive credit for Qualifying Purchases equal to 5% of their Qualifying Purchase Amount made during the applicable calendar quarter if the Reward minimum, as defined below, is met. As noted above, Qualifying Purchase Amount is the amount paid at checkout after application of all promotions, coupons, instant savings, and Rewards redemption. Product-specific coupons are applied pro rata (proportionately allocated across all items purchased in a given transaction) for the purposes of calculating Qualifying Purchase Amount(s) for Rewards. Amounts spent on postage stamps, prepaid phone cards, gift cards, savings passes, purchases made on third party websites, taxes, and shipping fees do not count toward earning Rewards. Staples, in its sole discretion, may include additional products or services as exclusions from Qualifying Purchases from time to time without prior notice.

    Staples Rewards® are issued online monthly at staples.com/rewards in increments of $5. Monthly balances of less than $5 will rollover through the end of the following calendar quarter. Unissued Rewards will expire at the end of the following calendar quarter, unless a qualifying purchase is made. Rewards are issued within 30 days after the end of the calendar month. Rewards may be redeemed at any Staples store, on staples.com, or by phone at 1-877-878-3331 by the expiration date printed on your Reward. Rewards are not redeemable for cash. Staples is not liable for unclaimed or expired Rewards.

    Rewards expire the last day of the month following the month of issuance, at the end of the day EST and cannot be redeemed after the expiration date. Expired, lost or misdirected Rewards will not be reissued. Rewards not received by the Member due to incorrect email addresses will not be reissued. There is no maximum on the amount of Rewards a Member can receive.

  4. Shipping Benefit

    Rewards Members receive free shipping on orders placed on staples.com or by phone at 1-877-878-3331 for which a membership account is identified, excluding orders under $14.99 and Oversize Items, orders made at documents.staples.com, print.staples.com, staplespromotionalproducts.com, create.staples.com, design.staples.com and third party websites linked to staples.com. Standard Staples delivery policies apply.

  5. Ink Recycling Rewards

    Each Premier Gold Member is eligible to receive Ink Recycling Rewards (“Recycling Rewards”) on ink recycling, as defined below, performed at Staples stores or online at staples.com/rewards, if the Member has spent at least $30 in ink and/or toner purchases at Staples over the previous 180 days. Ink and/or toner purchases made on the date of recycling are calculated toward minimum purchase requirement. Minimum purchase requirement is net of coupons, taxes, and shipping charges. Ink resellers and remanufacturers are strictly prohibited from earning Ink Recycling Rewards.

    Each Premier Gold Member can recycle up to 20 cartridges per month of any used ink or toner cartridge sold at any retail store in the U.S. and receive $2 back in Recycling Rewards per cartridge. The Member must be physically present at the store when the cartridges are turned in for recycling and a Membership account is identified. Staples will accept additional cartridges for recycling but Recycling Rewards will only be issued for the first 20 qualifying cartridges per calendar month per Member. Recycling Rewards may be used for the same purposes and are under the same restrictions as Rewards.

    Recycling Rewards are issued to the member monthly, online, at staples.com/rewards, separately from a Member’s standard Rewards statement, approximately within 30 days after the month in which the recycling was completed. Recycling Rewards are credited to the Member’s Rewards account in full each month with no minimum required. Expired, lost or misdirected Recycling Rewards will not be reissued. Recycling Rewards not received due to incorrect account information including email address will not be reissued.

  6. Copy & Print Savings

    Premier Gold members receive a $50 coupon towards an eligible Copy & Print purchase. Coupons are made available online at staples.com/rewards and are only valid for in-store Copy & Print purchases until the expiration date shown on the coupon. Coupon must be presented at time of service or purchase.

  7. Free Staples® Tech Services and Savings

    Premier Gold members receive a coupon valid for one free diagnostic service AND a $20 coupon good towards Total Support Protection Plan. Services available are in-store only; see Tech Services desk for covered hardware/software. Coupons are made available at staples.com/rewards and are only valid for in-store EasyTech purchases until the expiration date shown on the coupon. Coupon must be presented at time of service or purchase.

  8. Rewards Redemption

    Rewards and Recycling Rewards are nontransferable and may only be redeemed by the Member. Rewards and Recycling Rewards are redeemable for most merchandise in Staples stores, online at staples.com® or by phone at 1-877-878-3331 but cannot be redeemed for or applied against taxes, cash, credit remittance, delivery charges, custom printing orders placed online, promotional products, any purchases made on print.staples.com, documents.staples.com, staplespromotionalproducts.com, staplescustomprinting.btobsource.com, shopstaplesmobile.com, appcenter.staples.com, Staples gift cards, third party gift cards, prepaid phone cards, postage stamps, prior purchases, Staples Industrial℠ purchases or any purchases made on other provider Websites.

    If a Reward or Recycling Reward is not redeemed in full on in-store purchases only, a one-time-only coupon with the expiration date of the original Reward will be printed for any remaining balance of $1.00 or more. Such Reward coupon must be either used in full at one subsequent transaction or the balance will be forfeited. The balance Reward coupon may be used for future store, online or phone purchases. Staples.com orders or phone orders, excluding taxes delivery charges, gift cards, prepaid phone cards, savings passes, and postage stamps, must meet or exceed the Reward or Recycling Reward amount.

  10. Cancellation

    Membership may be cancelled at any time by notifying Member Services by email or phone. Cancellation may take up to 10 weeks to finalize. Upon cancellation, membership will be deactivated and any unpaid Rewards or Recycling Rewards will be forfeited.

  11. Abuse

    Abuse of the Program, including failure to follow or any attempts to circumvent Program policies and procedures or these Terms, or other improper conduct as determined by Staples in its sole discretion, is strictly forbidden. Abuse may result in cancellation of the Member’s account, future disqualification from Program participation, forfeiture of some or all Rewards and Recycling Rewards accrued, cancellation of previously issued but unused Rewards and Recycling Rewards and liability for past amounts of Rewards and Recycling Rewards redeemed. In addition, Staples reserves the right to take appropriate legal action as it deems necessary or desirable. The sale, barter or transfer of Rewards and Recycling Rewards, except by Staples, is expressly prohibited.

  12. General

    Rewards issued under this program cannot be combined with any other Rewards program, including Staples Associate Rewards®. Staples Rewards accounts are limited to one account per eligible customer; each email address and mailing address are also limited to one account. By enrolling in the Staples Rewards program, you will also receive Staples promotional communications. You may unsubscribe at any time. Rewards and Recycling Rewards are nontransferable and may only be redeemed by the Member. For information on how we protect your personal information, see Staples’ U.S. Privacy Policy on staples.com. Staples is not liable for unclaimed, expired, lost or misdirected statements or other communications from Staples to the Member or the Member to Staples.

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any Member’s legal action against Staples in regards to the Rewards program may only be filed in the state and federal courts of Suffolk County, Massachusetts. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable to any extent, then the invalid portion shall be deemed conformed to the minimum requirements of law to the extent possible. In addition, all other provisions of these Terms shall not be affected and shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Program is void where prohibited by law.

    Staples reserves the right to modify, revise or cancel this Program, the Terms or any part of the Program at any time for all participants or for any specific participant without prior notice. Staples’ decision on any aspect of Member’s account, membership status, Rewards balance or any aspect of the program or a particular Member’s participation in it shall be final. For the purposes of Rewards issued under this program, Staples assumes that any value or award earned as a result of United States Government purchases will be applied for the benefit of the United States Government in accordance with the procuring department’s or agency’s ethical guidelines.
