In an increasingly digital world, it can be difficult to know the best solution for organizing and storing physical documents. There are a lot of options on the market, but one of the easiest and most affordable ones to consider are pocket folders. Pocket folders are incredibly accessible, storable and portable, which makes them perfect for collating records, presenting interesting facts and anything in between.

What is a Pocket Folder?

A pocket folder is a folder that features one or more pockets designed to keep documents organized. Also known as a presentation folder, pocket folders can be made from materials such as paper, glossy cardstock, or plastic and feature multiple pockets for maximum storage. They also come in different varieties. Bi-fold folders fold in half down the middle and tri-folds have three panels and two folds.

What Size is a Pocket Folder?

When folded, most pocket folders usually measure 9 x 12 inches. They are designed to hold standard 8.5 x 11 inch sheets of printer paper. For larger documents, there are also legal-sized pocket folders that measure 9 x 14.5 inches, which is perfect for storing standard legal-sized paper.

What Features Can Pocket Folders Offer?

Pocket folders have a variety of handy features. Many pocket or presentation folders include flaps at the top to keep papers from sliding or slipping out of the pockets if the folder is tilted or turned upside down. The majority of them have fasteners that allow users to securely place hole-punched papers between the covers of the folders. For 3-prong fastener folders, papers can be secured and attached to the inner spine via three metal prongs, called brads. Other pocket folders feature two prongs located at the top of the folder. These are commonly used for medical and legal paperwork. Some folders themselves are three-hole punched so that they can be placed into larger three-ring binders.

Some brands even feature business card holders on the inner pockets that add a professional touch if you’re using your folder for a presentation or interview. Additionally, this product comes in a variety of color options, so you can color code and differentiate between folders, maximizing your organization potential.

What Can Pocket or Presentation Folders be Used For?
